Neuropelveology

What is Neuropelveology

Neuropelveology is a field of medicine which deals with the injuries and dysfunctions concerning the pelvic nerves. It’s a relatively new field, developed after 20 years of hard work of Professor Marc Possover. Having got training from him directly, and passing both level of exams, I here, make diagnosis and give treatment accordingly.

WHEN DOES A PATIENT APPROACH ME FOR SUCH A PROBLEM?

Pain during periods, sexual pain, burning of vaginal, anal areas/ groin, lower limbs Bladder problems, pain or burning after a surgical procedure, increase or decrease in sexual activity, change in gait, motor problems of lower limbs.

What

What do I do?

A thorough history is taken and examination is made to reach to a diagnosis. It usually should take around one and a half hours to do so. After that, maybe I will prescribe a few test, followed by treatment plan. Therefore, patients approaching for the above complaints should come with time, and prior appointment should discuss with me her problem via email/WhatsApp given on the website.

WHAT ARE THE FEW PROBLEMS WE DEAL WITH?

Neuropathic pelvic pain, pelvic nerve tumors, sexual disorders, nerve compression syndromes due to prior surgeries or vascular entrapment, endometriosis of sciatic nerve, loss of spinal cord functions after spinal cord injuries, overactive bladder, dysfunctions of pelvic organs, prolapse, pudendal neuralgia.

WHAT KIND OF TREATMENT IS GIVEN?

Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may involve some drugs, or injections, or surgeries to release nerve entrapments, laparoscopic removal of endometriosis from the nerve.
Future treatment would entail genital nerve stimulation, pelvic nerve stimulation (LION procedure).
All in all, I use here very deep knowledge and understanding of pelvic nerve anatomy and physiology to make a diagnosis, rather than dismissing the pain because I cannot see it, or simply doing surgery to see what happens. In future, I will also be completing the Neuropelvelogy part 3 course, to handle all complex surgeries and nerve stimulation
